Day Four. The big day. The first time in weeks that I would actually hold a dumbbell. Ooh, the anticipation… Truthfully, I was a little bit excited. Yes, I’m a geek. I headed to The Factory, reviewing my plan in my head:  No more than 50 minutes weight-training. Baby-weights. Teeny-tiny baby weights… Only chest and shoulders. [...]

Not much to say today. I did my time on the stepmill, followed it with some core and flexibility and made it out of the gym in an hour and a bit. Short, sweet, satisfying. And finished. In the gym. Concisely: Stepmill, Fatburner Level 8, 15 minutes. 1.3 miles Stepmill, Aerobic Level 8, 15 minutes. [...]

So whose brilliant idea was this, anyway? That was the question I was asking myself this morning as I pulled my behind up the stepmill at the ungodly hour of 6:45 a.m. I am a night owl. Left to my own devices, I would be quite content to stay up until the wee hours and [...]

Cardio. Boring. Showed up in the pouring rain. Was soaked when I started. Dried up a bit via paper towels and the air conditioning. Got damp again from stepmill/treadmill. And soaked again when I left. In the pouring rain. This would be so much easier if I just moved in. In the gym, with my [...]

Cardio only. It was a good thing I only had to spend a short time in the gym, as my inclination was to just stay home anyway… I couldn’t think of one good reason to head out into the decidedly un-Texas-like weather we’re having. In all the years I have lived here, I have laughed [...]

I do love the stepmill. I was reminded of just how much tonight when, after completing one 15 minute round, followed by 10 minutes on the elliptical, and 25 minutes of core, I decided to head back into the cardio area for another 15 minute bout of stair-climbing. Just because I could. Devotion, indeed. It [...]

In the gym, with the World Cup and the College World Series: Stepmill: Fatburner Level 8, 15 minutes. 1.3 miles. Upright Bike: Manual, Resistance Level 1 – 5, 15 minutes, 2.55 miles. (yeah, slow.) Treadmill: 4 mph, incline 2 -6, 15 minutes, 1 mile. Too bad, Cameroon. I was pulling for you (but what a [...]

I did cardio today. That shouldn’t be something I have to announce, but amazingly enough, today’s stepmill/elliptical session marks the first time I have done any cardio training whatsoever since June 3… I am having trouble believing it myself. I don’t honestly think that in all the years I have been training, I have ever [...]

And today, that was the case. Consider: My cardio was 10 minutes on the stepmill, and 15 minutes on the treadmill. Wimp-city. And: That was my entire workout for the day. I cannot lie. So, super-wimp-city. I just had no legs today, and as tomorrow is actually “Leg Day”, it seemed rather unproductive to push [...]

That, folks, is exactly what my trainer called it and even though I am the “Queen of Core”, I agreed with him. It was a tough little bout that started off the session that followed ours -  Mike’s next clients were Charlie, Steve and Matt – and just for fun, Jae and I joined in. [...]
